Sculptural Ironwork
for Gardens and Landscape
Contemporary forged sculpture designed to sit in balance with the environment
The Work
From the hand drawn design through to the forged and hammered ironwork itself, each piece is created by Simon.
Inspired by those experiences that leave an indelible mark, whether it is watching swallows corkscrewing between the hedgerows above the farm on a summer evening or a stand of foxgloves unfurling in the margins of a field on the walk to work, experiences of the fragile and tenacious are the inspiration for the designs that eventually find their way into Simon’s sketchbook.
Simon has been forging steel since 2001. Working from his rural Forge on the Devon Dorset border, he works to create garden sculpture and architectural ironwork of quality and beauty.
Each piece is designed and made by hand to last and carefully considered for the environment it will occupy.

Sculpture Rooted in Blacksmithing
Simon Connett is a sculptor and blacksmith working in forged iron.
With a background in fine art and traditional forging techniques, his work bridges sculpture and craftsmanship — combining material integrity with spatial awareness.
Working from his Devon studio workshop, Simon creates both limited pieces and commissioned works for private clients and landscape settings across the UK.

Considering a Commission?
The studio undertakes both individual commissions and larger landscape projects.
Each begins with a conversation about scale, context and installation.
From concept sketches through to fabrication and placement, every piece is developed with its setting in mind.
Most Recent Project
Fresh from the forge and installed last week in the graden.
